Maldwyn Cooper
Title: Assistant Wrestling Coach
Coach Cooper has been with the Ursinus program for over 12 years.

He brings a unique blend of judo and wrestling techniques to the program that allows those we like to throw to expand their standard attacks. Having coached in various sports (wrestling, judo, soccer, ice hockey) for over 35 years he blends well with the Ursinus staff to bring out the best in every wrestler

Maldwyn emigrated from Wales to Canada when he was young which allowed him to represent Canada for a number of years. As a competitor Coach Cooper was a 6 time Canadian National Champion, Bronze medalist at British Commonwealth Games in Australia, placed fourth at World Cup in Toledo, Fifth place at Pan-Am Games in Puerto Rico, 9th place at World Championships in Edmonton, 4 time MVP for the University of Waterloo Wrestling team and was the University of Waterloo Athlete of the Year.

He also holds a fourth degree black belt in judo and runs a judo club in Collegeville, close to Ursinus College. He lives in Royersford with his wife Marie while his three sons are playing soccer at local universities.
