Mike Ortman is currently the Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs coach for the Bears.  He has served in this capacity for the past four seasons, having started in the organization as a Tight End/Full Back position coach.

This year will mark Mike’s  41st year of coaching, having coached 35 years at the High School Level, 24 of those years as a head coach.  He served as head coach at Morrisville High School from 1983 until 1987, when he left to take the head coaching position at Council Rock/Council Rock North High School, where he served as the head coach until 2007. During his years at Council Rock he taught at all three levels; 14 years as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher, 2 years as a 6th grade classroom teacher and the last 19 as a High School Special Education Teacher. Mike retired from teaching in June of 2007 and was subsequently inducted into the Council Rock Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.

Mike is an alumnus of Millersville University class of 1972, where he was a running back under Coach Gene Carpenter.  He graduated from Abington High School in 1968.

Mike is married to his wife Susan of 42 years.  They have 4 children; Katie, Mike Jr. (Ursinus ’96 Hall of Fame), Tim and Liz.  They also have 9 grandchildren; Chuckie, Bruce Michael, Dalton, Faith, Kristopher, Madeline, Trey, Max, and William.
