Four named All-Americans
GLENDALE, Ariz. - Four members of the Ursinus College field
hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches
Assocation (NFHCA) 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-American
teams on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior back Lindsey Doutt (Willow Street,
Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and junior forward Megan
Yoder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) were named to the
first-team, while junior forward Michelle Wimmer (Palm,
Pa./Upper Perkiomen) was named to the second-team.
Sophomore forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper
Perkiomen) was named third-team.
Doutt, a first-team All-Centennial Conference selection, recorded three goals and five assists as a defender. She was a first-team All-South Region pick.
Yoder, the South Region Player of the Year, scored 26 goals and recorded 20 assists on the season. She was the Centennial Conference player of the Year.
Wimmer, a first-team All-Centennial Conference selection, recorded 17 goals and nine assists on the season.
Thren, who set the Centennial Conference record for goals in a season, finished with 34 goals and a total of 74 points.
Ursinus finished 20-3 on the season and advanced to the NCAA Division III Semifinals for the second time in three years.
