Softball sweeps weekly Centennial awards

LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus swept both weekly Centennial Conference Softball awards on Monday afternoon.

Sophomore outfielder Kelly Kalovcak (Pottsville, Pa./Minersville Area) was named offensive player of the week, while senior pitcher Lauren Davis-Macedonia (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) was named as pitcher of the week.

Kalovcak batted .474 (9-for-19) during six games last week with three doubles and seven RBI.   In game one of the Washington series, she went 3-for-3 with three RBI.  Kalovcak had three multiple hit games, with two RBI in the first Dickinson game and drove in the lone run in game two of the DC series.

In 37 innings this week, Davis-Macedonia went 5-0 with a 0.76 ERA, striking out 55 and walking just four.  She struck out 13 batters in the openers of both the Washington and McDaniel series and all five wins were complete game victories.  In game two of the Dickinson series, she picked up a save by throwing no-hit ball in two innings. Teams batted .176 against her in six games.

Ursinus (20-2, 10-0 Centennial) will host Haverford on Tuesday.
