LANCASTER, Pa. – Samantha Garritano of the Ursinus College softball team was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week after a stretch of hot hitting in Florida.
Garritano was a key factor at the plate and in the field as the Bears capped their annual spring break trip with a seven-game winning streak. The junior hit .393 for the week (.424 overall) with a home run and nine RBI, scoring eight runs and slugging .571.
A weekly award winner for the second time in her career, Garritano posted four multi-hit games in the Sunshine State, including a 3-for-4 afternoon with a homer and four RBI in a 12-1 rout of Mount Union. She had a pair of doubles, stole a base, and picked up two outfield assists on defense.
The red-hot Bears look to continue their longest winning streak since 2010 when Delaware Valley comes to Collegeville for the home opener on Thursday.
