Women's Tennis Blanked by Haverford

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Maddie Sorebo nearly came through victorious in a pro-set tiebreaker, but the freshman's efforts came up just a bit short as Haverford dealt the Ursinus College women's tennis team a 9-0 Centennial Conference shutout on Tuesday.

Sorebo played Izzy Angstman to the limit at number six singles, but dropped a 7-4 decision in the breaker.

The Fords – ranked 13th in the Atlantic South Region – improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in CC competition, while Ursinus dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-5 in league play.

Senior Aileen BeVard was the other Bear to play a close match, losing 7-5, 6-2 to Jane Bary at number one singles.

Haverford lost only four games in doubles play and just five between second and fifth singles.

Ursinus hosts Cabrini in non-conference action on Wednesday.
