Johnson wins Mid East Regional
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus senior cross country runner
Christa Johnson (West Berlin, NJ/Bishop Eustace)
took the top spot in the NCAA Division III Mid East Cross Country
Regional on Saturday at Waynesburg College.
Johnson finished with an overall time of 22:01, just five seconds
ahead of Kristen Carter of Grove City. The women finished
12th out of 44 teams, while the men were 26 out of
43.
With the win, Johnson automatically qualifies for the NCAA Division
III Championships, hosted by Hanover (IN) next weekend.
Sophomore Alison Nolan (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen
Valley) was 72nd overall with a time of 24:41,
followed by senior Natalie Rosenberg (Wilmington,
DE/Wilmington Friends) in 82nd place at 24:54.
Sophomore Deb Yanessa (Haddonfield, NJ/Paul IV)
was 85th overall at 24:55, with freshman Chelsie
Schadt (Youngsville, NY/Sullivan West) taking
131st at 25:41.
Freshman Michelle Telta (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton
Lakes) was the final scoring finisher for Ursinus,
finishing in 139th place at 25:49. Freshman
Stephanie Donatone (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) was
155th at 26:09.
For the men, sophomore Jeremy Garavel (Redding, CT/Joel
Barlow) was 85th overall at 27:32, with his
brother Justin Garavel (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow)
taking 116th at 28 minutes flat.
Sophomore Jeffrey Centafont (Southampton, PA/William
Tennent) was 181st with a time of 29:09,
followed by junior Dante Dimidio (Yardley, PA/Holy Ghost
Prep) in 183rd place at 29:14.
Senior Dave Gildea (Media, PA/Penncrest) was
187th at 29:20, followed by freshman Chris Wiles
(New London, CT/The Williams School) (200th,
29:37) and junior Brett Godoy (Chichester,
PA/Chichester) (234th, 30:49).
