LANCASTER, Pa. – After a pair of stellar performances to open the season, sophomore goalkeeper Sabrina Doherty of the Ursinus College women's soccer team was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Doherty was a brick wall between the pipes for the Bears, who kicked off the new campaign with a 3-0 victory over Keystone and a scoreless draw at Lebanon Valley. The sophomore made one save in the shutout against Keystone before keeping Ursinus in contention with 12 stops against the Dutchmen, who dominated possession but were unable to put one past Doherty.
This marks the second player of the week nod for Doherty, who also earned that honor last October. She holds a shutout streak of over 200 minutes dating back to her final start as a rookie.
Doherty and the Bears look to continue their unbeaten run on Thursday, when they travel to Arcadia for a non-conference tilt.
