COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College wrestling team earned three key Centennial Conference dual meet wins on Saturday.

The Bears (9-0, 5-0 Centennial) started the day with 32-11 win over Merchant Marine (4-7, 3-2 Centennial) then scored a 27-10 win over Stevens (10-5, 4-1 Centennial).

Ursinus finished the day with a 42-6 win over Muhlenberg. The two wins over Merchant Marine and Stevens marked the first time that Ursinus had defeated both teams in a dual in the same season since 2007. The win over Merchant Marine also snapped a four-meet losing streak to the Mariners.

Ursinus started the Merchant Marine bout with freshman Christopher Donaldson (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) taking a pin over Matt Chess in 2:01 for a 6-0 lead. After a forfeit win for senior Alex Blank (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) at 133, Ursinus went up 15-0 as sophomore Elisha Gaylor (West Reading, Pa./Wyomissing) won his bout at 141 with a 10-6 decision win over Bernard Watson.

Senior Connor McCormick (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) picked up a win in 2:58 over Nick Watson at 149 for a  21-0 Ursinus lead, with freshman Richard Jasinski (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridgeville) taking a 12-2 major decision over Matthew Hiltz at 157.

Merchant Marine took the next three bouts as Connar Zimmerman defeated junior Andrew Corbett (Pittsgrove, N.J./Shalick) via a 9-5 decision at 165, followed by a 5-2 win over Samual Fry over Matthew Kreuger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) at 174 for a 25-6 Ursinus lead. Erik Schott earned a tech fall over junior Michael Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Westtown) at 184, 18-2 in 5:05 to put the Mariners within 14 at 25-11.

Ursinus would take the final two bouts as senior Connor McNamara (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) eeked out a slim 4-3 decision over Tyler Russell at 197, while junior William Cornely (Cinnaminson, N.J./Camden Catholic) defeated Dan Wilke 16-4 at 285 for the final margin of 32-11. Russell came into the bout leading the weight class in the conference in victories with 16.

Against Stevens, Donaldson defeated Anthony Geiger via a pin in 2:20, while Blank picked up a 7-0 decision over Andrew Boehn for a  9-0 lead.

Stevens' Michael Polizzi defeated Gaylor 2-0 at 141 to give the Ducks their first points of the match at 9-3.

Ursinus won the next two bouts, as McCormick bested CJ Castera at 149 3-2, followed by a 3-1 decision for Jasinski over Jake Odell.

At 165, Joey Favia defeated Reick via an 11-2 major decision, before Krueger battled back for a  7-6 decision over James Holden at 174 to give Ursinus an 18-10 lead. McNamara sealed the win for Ursinus with a 6-1 win over Alex Moreno at 197, while Cornely won via a forfeit at 285.

Against Muhlenberg, the Bears picked up six forfeit wins, with Gaylor defeating Matthew Parker at 141, before sophomore Karch Connors (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) won his bout over Nicholas Pallotta at 285 12-10 for a 42-6 win.

Ursinus heads to  Washington & Lee next Saturday to take on W&L, New York University and McDaniel in the final Centennial dual of the season.
