UC Athletics Bears of Color Connect (B.O.C.C.)
Who we are:
Bears of Color Connect is open to ALL members of the Ursinus College community who are allies, and are dedicated to uplifting and providing a safe space for BIPOC varsity student-athletes at Ursinus College. Our mission is to appropriately acknowledge and honor the unique experiences, challenges, and aspirations of BIPOC student-athletes, while advocating for equity, representation, and social justice within the realm of collegiate sports at our institution and beyond.

Our group is committed to:
  • Empowerment: Empowering BIPOC student athletes to excel academically, athletically, professionally, and personally by providing a supportive and uplifting environment that promotes self-confidence and self-expression.
  • Inclusivity: Creating a welcoming space where all student athletes, regardless of gender, sport, or background, can connect, share, and learn from one another's experiences.
  • Advocacy: Advocating for increased representation of ALL student-athletes in media and leadership roles within athletics and promoting racial equity in sports through education, awareness, and action.
  • Community Engagement: Engaging with the broader Ursinus College community to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by BIPOC student-athletes, work collaboratively to effect positive change, and be of service.
  • Mentorship: Providing mentorship and support to BIPOC student athletes, helping them navigate the complexities of college life, athletics, professional, and personal development.
  • Celebration of Excellence: Celebrating the achievements and contributions of BIPOC student-athletes, both on and off the field, as well as their potential to be catalysts for change within our campus and beyond.
  • Social Equity: Advocating for social equity and justice in instances that impact the BIPOC community and using our platform as student-athletes to promote positive change in society.
