COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team hung tough with the 6-time defending Centennial Conference Champion Gettysburg squad, but ultimately fell 147-115.

Sophomore Jacob Menzer continued his hot start to the season, leading the Bears with three victories. Menzer opened his day with a first-place finish in the 1000 free (9:47.87) before finding himself atop the podium in the 500 free (4:42.84) and the 200 IM (1:59.53).

Joining Menzer with at least one top-of-the-podium finish were senior Colin McNamara and freshman Michael Prior. McNamara nabbed a first-place finish in the 100 fly (53.61) while Prior won the 200 back (1:56.20) and placed second in the 100 back (54.52). The duo were part of the Bears' foursome to touch the wall second in the 200 medley relay (1:38.79). Juniors Maxwell Coulter and Will Venables rounded out the group.

McNamara wasn't done there, as he finished up his day with a pair of second-place finishes – first in the 200 fly as an individual and then again in the 400 free relay (3:15.71), where he was joined by Venables and sophomores Jared Krawetz and Casey Lear.

Venables also placed second in the 50 free (22.02) while Coulter came in second in the 100 breast (1:01.45) and the 200 breast (2:18.20).

Lear and Krawetz finished 2-3 in the 200 free with times of 1:45.80 and 1:47.65 while Lear also earned a second-place finish in the 100 free (48.37).

Junior Devin Nielsen finished two spots behind Prior in the 200 back, garnering the final spot on the podium with a time of 2:03.77.

Senior Christopher Barthold and junior Johnathan Myers rounded out Bears to step on the podium. Barthold placed third in the 1000 free (10:13.07) and Myers earned third in the 200 fly (2:01.55).

The Bears are back in action on December 2 when they'll travel to Swarthmore.
