CHESTER, Pa. - The Ursinus College men's swimming team dove into the pool on Saturday for a Non-conference meet with Widener University. The Bears picked up their consecutive victory defeating the Pride 154-107.
Jonah Kasznay was a triple winner for the Bears, while Ryan Carkhuff won two events and was involved in a pair of first-place relays.
Kasznay and Carkhuff were part of the 200-yard medley relay, which also included Samuel Taffet and Jan Perez-Bonilla; that quartet opened the meet with a mark of 1:40.12 to get Ursinus off to a fast start.
Ryan Schreffler followed up in the 100 backstroke, as he finished first outlasting two Pride swimmers with a time of 56.47.
Carkhuff picked up the first of his double with a 21.67 in the 50-yard freestyle, where teammate Stephen Lyons was runner-up at 21.86. The momentum carried into the 100-yard freestyle as it was a clean sweep for the Bears as Carkhuff, Lyons, and Dylan Schreffler rounded out the top three.
Taffet grabbed his customary first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.43. Kasznay, Matt Snyder, and Kevin Soon completed a clean sweep in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Bears return to action Saturday as they will host Gettysburg at 1:00 PM.
