COLLEGEVILLE, PA. - The Ursinus College Swimming Program celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Centennial Conference opponent Washington College. The Bears swept the dual meet as the Women won decisively 146-115, and the Men needed a win in the final relay to capture a 140-122 victory.
Ursinus Men's Swimming was led by Freshman Jonah Kasznay who collected two individual event victories in the 1000 free (10:06.73) and 200 IM (1:59.08). Kasznay also participated in the 400-freestyle relay that finished first and the 200 backstroke that finished in second place. Senior Ryan Carkhuff collected a win the 100 free with a time of 47.75, he also finished second in the 200-freestyle (1:47.29). Fellow senior, Matt Snyder collected a second and third place finish in the 200 breast (2:19.60) and 100 breast with a time of 1:02.63.
The men collected a total of seven event victories and eleven second place finishes. With a five-point lead heading into the final relay, the Bears needed an important victory to ensure the win over Washington College. The quartet of Lyons, Perez-Bonilla, Kasznay, and Carkhuff dominated the 400-freestyle relay outlasting fellow teammates for a first-place finish with a time of 3:13.53.
The Bears will return to action next Saturday as they travel to Dickinson College for a 1pm start.
