COLLEGEVILLE, PA. - The Ursinus College Swimming Program celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Centennial Conference opponent Washington College. The Bears swept the dual meet as the Women won decisively 146-115, and the Men needed a win in the final relay to capture a 140-122 victory.
The Bears celebrated the achievements of three seniors prior to the match as Sophie Lear, Ro Murphy, and Liv Rachael were recognized before their final dual inside the William Elliot Pool.
The women's swimming team was led by outstanding performances from Melissa Leonard, Lear, and Molly Stevens who each won two individual events with Leonard anchoring two first-place relay teams. Leonard finished first in both the 200 (1:59.86) and 500 (5:18.17) freestyle events. Lear captured first place in the 100 breast (1:08.01) and 100 free with a time of 54.93. Stevens collected first place in both the 100 (1:01.80) and 200 (2:12.57) backstroke.
The Bears will return to action next Saturday as they travel to Dickinson College for a 1pm start.
