CARLISLE, PA. - The Ursinus College Men's Swimming team suffered a loss on the road Sunday afternoon to Dickinson College 104-101. The Bears finish their dual season with a 5-4 record and will look to bounce back at the Centennial Conference Championships in February.
Senior Ryan Carkhuff led the Bears with two first-place finishes as teammates Ryan Schreffler, Maxwell Valeriano, and Jonah Kasznay each earned an event victory. Carkhuff earned victories in both the 50 (21.62) and 100-yard (48.21) freestyle events and currently ranks third in the conference in both races.
Freshman Jonah Kasznay also shined in the dual-meet winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:53.34. Kasznay currently ranks 11th in the conference in the 500 free and sits in eighth place in the 1000-yard freestyle. Kasznay also recorded second place finishes in both the 100 breast (1:01.53) and 200 (1:48.81) freestyle
Junior Maxwell Valeriano picked up a win for the Bears in the 200 IM finishing with a time of 2:04.57. Valeriano personal best of 1:59.30 currently stands as the 19th fastest time in the Centennial Conference. Valeriano also added a third-place finish for Ursinus in the 100-yard backstroke (57.53). Ryan Schreffler was just off his personal best in the 100 back as he finished first with a time of 55.14.
The quartet of Stephen Lyons, Dylan Schreffler, Jan Perez-Bonilla, and Carkhuff earned a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.83. The Bears currently rank 4th in the conference for the 400 free relay with their best time of 3:06.75.
The Bears will have three weeks off before returning to the pool for Conferences on February 17th.
