CARLISLE, PA. - The Ursinus College Women's Swimming team collected their third consecutive victory and improved to 7-3 on the season after defeating Dickinson College 113-90. The Bears earned first place finishes in 9 of the 11 events.
Sophie Lear and Melissa Leonard both recorded two first-place finishes in solo events, and each participated in a first-place relay team. Lear recorded first in both the 200-yard IM (2:16.48) and 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.28. Lear currently holds the conference quickest time in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.80. Leonard collected wins in both the 1000 free (11:12.15) and 100 free with a time of 56.32. Leonard currently holds the fastest time in the Centennial Conference for the 1000 free with a time of 10:42.79.
Senior Liv Rachael also impressed against the Red Devils winning the 50 free (25.65) and helped both the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams finish first. First-year Molly Stevens earned Conference Swimmer of the week honors last week and continued her great season winning the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 1:01.34. Fellow classmate Katie Barlow earned two second-place finishes in both the 200 (2:02.41) and 500-yard (5:28.60) freestyle events.
Junior Abigail Ferguson was just short of her personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke, recording a time of 1:10.25. Ferguson also participated in the first place 200 medley relay team and earned a second-place finish in the 100 back.
The Bears will have three weeks off before they return to the pool for conferences on February 17 at Franklin & Marshall.
