YORK, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team defeated York College on Saturday afternoon 107-78, improving to 2-2 overall on the season.
The quartet of
Jonah Kasznay,
Francesco D'Avella,
William Cano, and
Dylan Schreffler opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:36.45. The Bears followed up with a two top-three finishes in the 200 free, as senior
Ryan Carkhuff (1:48.81) earned second and sophomore
Jan Perez-Bonilla (1:50.95) collected a third-place finish. Kasznay followed up with a win in the 100 breast, reaching the wall at 1:00.97.
Junior
Stephen Lyons collected a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.68, while earning second place in the 100-fly touching the wall at 54.65. Kasznay (4:17.11),
Maxwell Valeriano (4:31.04), and
Samuel Taffet (4:38.28) swept the 400IM as they each earned top-three finishes. Junior
Jake Hennegan finished third in the 100 free with a time of 50.78, while sophomore
Dylan Schreffler edged out a Spartan swimmer for the top time touching the wall at 48.32.
In the 100-yard backstroke, first-years
Francesco D'Avella (54.83) and
William Cano (1:00.10) finished second and third place respectively. Ursinus closed out the meet with a win in the 200-freestyle relay as Carkhuff, Cano, Schreffler, and Lyons combined for a time of 1:26.12.
The Bears will return to action on Saturday for their 2022-23 home opener against Widener at 1pm.
