GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team dropped a tough dual-meet to Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon, 166-92.
With the loss, the Bears fall to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in Centennial Conference duals, while the Bullets improved to 6-1 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
Ursinus opened the dual-meet with a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay, as the quartet of
Alexandra Zelinske,
Abigail Ferguson,
Molly Stevens, and
Sara Bozzomo finished with a time of 1:53.27. In the second event, the 1000 freestyle, sophomore
Katie Barlow (3
rd, 11:17.19) and junior
Erica Locke (5
th, 12:39.39) earned top-five times respectively. Ursinus collected their first event victory in the next race as junior
Melissa Leonard collected the top-time in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.40. Leonard earned a second-place finish in the 100 free (54.27) and picked up her second event victory with a win in the 500 free (5:15.63.
Junior
Alexandra Zelinske impressed throughout the dual earning the top time in the 200 back (2:11.45) and the second-fastest time in the 100 back touching the wall at 1:01.10. Seniors
Abigail Ferguson and
Charlotte Driver swam well in the following two races, each earning top times. Ferguson earned a first-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.48 and the top-time in the 200 breast touching the wall at 2:31.12. Driver collected a third-place finish in the 200 fly touching the wall at 2:19.75.
Bozzmo earned two top three times with a T-2
nd place finish in the 50 free (25.49) and a third-place finish in the 100 free (55.89). Sophomore
Molly Stevens picked up two fifth-place finishes in the 100 back (1:04.69) and 100 fly (1:04.62).
The Bears will have a few weeks off and return to action on December 2
nd for the Gettysburg Invitational.
