RADNOR, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team returned to competition with a 104-79 victory over Cabrini on Friday afternoon.
The Bears opened the meet with the top two times in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of
Abigail Ferguson,
Katie Barlow,
Melissa Leonard, and
Charlotte Driver touched the wall at 1:58.48. The quartet of
Molly Stevens,
Morgan Grabowski,
Emily Carkhuff, and
Alexandra Zelinske finished in second with a time of 2:02.54.
First-year
Sara Bozzomo shined in the 1000-yard freestyle earning a first-place finish with a time of 11:34.08, while sophomore
Molly Stevens collected the top time in the 200-freestyle touching the wall at 2:05.66. Junior
Melissa Leonard collected a first-place finish in the 100 back (59.64), while Bozzomo finished second touching the wall at 1:05.64. Junior
Erica Locke tallied a third-place finish in the race (200 free) with a time of 2:12.45 and a second-place finish in the 100-freestyle touching the wall at 1:01.68.
The Bears earned the top-two times in the 50-yard freestyle as senior
Abigail Ferguson (25.55) and junior
Alexandra Zelinske (25.83) took home first and second place respectively. Zelinske followed up with a race victory in the 100-freestyle collecting the top time at 56.93. Sophomores
Emily Carkhuff and
Katie Barlow each collected event victories in the 200 IM and 100 fly. Carkhuff recorded a first-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.46, while Barlow finished first in the 100-fly touching the wall at 1:03.90.
Senior
Charlotte Driver earned the top time in the 500-freestyle finishing 20 seconds faster than Cabrini's Aurora Schreiber in second place with a time of 5:45.88. Junior
Morgan Grabowski collected a fourth-place finish In the 500 free with a time of 6:14.90.
The Bears will return to action on Saturday, January 21
st as they travel to Washington College for a Centennial Conference matchup.
