LANCASTER, PA. – Behind two impressive performances over the weekend, Ursinus College senior
Gary Nagle has been named Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Week announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
Nagle the reigning Centennial Conference champion at 184lbs from a year ago defeated two regionally ranked wrestlers to lead the Bears to a 2-0 start in conference duals. On Friday, he sealed the dual against Johns Hopkins by defeating Joe Paul 2-1, who was last year's Centennial Conference champion at 174 and is ranked third in the Mideast Region. On Saturday, Nagle sealed the dual for Ursinus again with an 8-7 decision over McDaniel's Michael Bromley (Ranked fifth at 184 in Mideast region) in route to the 26-16 Bears victory.
This is the first time Nagle has earned a weekly accolade from the conference, and he is the first wrestler to earn a weekly award since
Malcolm Hunt in January 2022. Nagle has a 9-1 record this season and is currently ranked sixth at 184lbs in the Mideast Region.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday with a non-conference dual meet with Delaware Valley before a tri-meet with Gettysburg College and United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday.
