COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College Men's Swimming team improved to 3-1 on the season, earning a 111-82 victory over York College on Homecoming on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears opened the contest with a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, as the quartet of
Jonah Kasznay,
Francesco D'Avella,
Jack Giuliana, and
Dylan Schreffler finished with a time of 3:36.28.
During the next race, junior
Jake Klucinec (11:14.94) and first-year
Adam Denn (11:31.24) took second and third respectively in the 1000-yard freestyle. Later in the meet, Denn followed up with a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM touching the wall at 2:14.67. Ursinus carried the momentum into the next race as sophomore
David McCauley earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle behind a time of 1:46.36. McCauley's time ranks as the sixth best this season in the Centennial Conference, while senior
Jake Hennegan finished third in the race with a time of 1:50.08.
The Bears increased their lead in the meet during the 50-yard freestyle behind a first-place finish from senior
Stephen Lyons with a time of 21:49. Lyon's time marks as the third quickest time in the conference this season, while junior Kevin Soon took third place touching the wall at 22.10. Kasnzay continues to shine during his junior season, winning both the 200-yard IM (2:00.42) and 500-yard freestyle (4:51.53). He currently holds the second-best time in each event within the conference.
First-year
Jack Giuliana followed up with the best time in the 100-yard butterfly (53.87), while Lyons took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.62. Ursinus swept the top-three times in the 100 free as Schreffler (48.58) and Sonn (48.88) took second and third place, respectively. D'Avella also swam well for Ursinus, earning the fastest time in the 100-yard backstroke (55.07) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.05).
The Bears return to action on Saturday, November 4
th as they travel to Chester, Pennsylvania for a non-conference meet against Widener University at 1 p.m.
