COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Six different swimmers earned event victories as the Ursinus College men's swimming team defeated McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon 105-66 from Elliot Pool.
With the victory, the Bears improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Green Terror fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in conference play.
Ursinus opened the meet by earning the fastest two times in the 200-yard Medley Relay as the quartet of junior
Kevin Sonn, sophomore
Francesco D'Avella, senior
Jake Hennegan, and junior
Jan Perez-Bonilla combined for a time of 1:40.63. Sonn added an event victory in the 100 free with a time of 49.34, while D'Avella (23.00) took second, and Hennegan (23.20) placed third in the 50 free, respectively.
The Bears carried the momentum in the next race as junior
Jake Klucinec recorded the fastest time in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:47.15. Klucinec added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.22, while classmate
Dylan Schreffler took third in the 100 fly (55.23) and first-place in the 50 free with a time of 22.39.
Ursinus also tallied the two fastest times in the 200-yard freestyle as sophomore
David McCauley (1:48.16) and senior
Daniel Leach (1:57.83) earned first and second place, respectively. In the 400-yard IM, junior
Jonah Kasznay (4:17.63), first-year
Daniel Salimov (4:46.97), and senior
Alex Kessel (4:55.26) swept the top-three times in the event. Kessel later added a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.76, nearly setting a personal best.
Ursinus ended the dual-meet with the three fastest times during the 100-yard breaststroke as D'Avella (1:00.44), Hennegan (1:01.99), and first-year
Adam Denn (1:08.74) outpaced McDaniel's Ethan Gell (1:12.83).
The Bears will return to action on Friday, December 1
st as they gear for the Swarthmore Invitational against the Garnet and Salisbury University starting at 5 p.m.
