COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's wrestling team picked up their first dual-meet victory of the season with a 28-19 victory over Cedar Crest on Sunday morning.
The Bears earned victories in six of the ten weight classes, with each victory coming via bonus points to decide the match. Four first-year wrestlers also recorded their first collegiate dual meet win during the match.
The Bears received the opening victory by injury default as first-year
Mandy Gavares tallied the victory over Lauren Jackson of Cedar Crest. The Falcons recorded victories by forfeit in the next two weight classes to take a 10-5 lead through three matches. During the 123lb bout, sophomore
Kalli Roskos earned a dominant 10-0 technical superiority victory over Cedar Crest's Cass Rodriguez. Within the opening ten seconds of the match, Roskos converted on a double-leg takedown to gain an early 2-0 advantage. She later converted on three more takedown attempts in route to the 10-0 decision at the 2:09-mark of the first period.
Trailing 10-9 in the match, first-year

Bloomfield converted on a double leg shot, before recording the pinfall with a "power half" to collect her first collegiate dual-meet victory. Ursinus doubled their lead to 18-10 during the 136lb match as junior
Lauren Gherman defeated Olivia Horninger by a 10-0 technical superiority. Gherman opened the match with a four-point single leg takedown and after her second takedown she recorded the victory with a two-near fall for the 10-0 decision. At 143lbs, first-year

Emma Matera (170lbs) collected the final victory for Ursinus with a 10-0 technical superiority to lock up the dual meet for the Bears.
"Impressive performance by our women today," Director of Wrestling
Joe Jamison said. "We have a few out due to injury and descending to new weight classes, but everyone who competed stepped up and wrestled their hearts out. Winning six out of seven matches against another second-year program shows where we are right now. We're looking forward to our tri-meet next weekend."
The Bears return to action on Saturday, November 18
th as they host Western New England University and Southern Virginia University for a tri-meet inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Center at 1 p.m.
