BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The dual-meet came down to the final race as the Ursinus College Women's Swimming defeated Bryn Mawr 108-95 on Friday evening.
With the victory, the Bears improved to 4-1 on the season and 3-1 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Owls fell to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
With the score tied at 93 apiece, Ursinus earned the top-two times in the 800-yard freestyle to capture the Centennial Conference dual-meet victory. The quartet of

Katie Barlow, and first-years
Mimi Norris and
Morgan Valeriano posted a pool record of 8:12.53 to clinch the meet. The team of
Melanie Hahn,
Sara Bozzomo,
Molly Stevens, and
Melissa Leonard earned a second-place finish with a time of 8:15.06.
Barlow set the ton for the Bears winning the 1000-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 11:07.84. She later collected the second fastest time in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.82. During the following race, the 200-yard freestyle, first-years
Mimi Norris (2:03.54) and
Sylvi Lynch (2:11.72) tallied the two fastest times, while senior
Morgan Grabowski took fifth with a time of 2:19.69.
First-year
Morgan Valeriano shined in the 50-yard freestyle (25.51) collecting a first-place finish which ranks the 11
th fastest in the Centennial Conference this season. Classmate,
Melanie Hahn recorded the top-times in the 400 IM (4:54.69) and 100-yard freestyle (5617).
During the 100-yard backstroke, senior
Melissa Leonard took home first place with a time of 1:01.77, which ranks as the seventh fastest this season within the conference. During the next race, the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore
Sara Bozzomo placed first with a time of 5:37.42. Just two races later, the Bears would clinch the meet with their record-breaking time in the 800-yard freestyle relay to earn the Centennial Conference victory.
The Bears will return to action tomorrow as they travel to Chester, Pennsylvania for a non-conference matchup against Widner University at 1 p.m.
