SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team wrapped up their first day of competition in a tri-meet against Salisbury University and Swarthmore College on Friday evening.
The Bears opened with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of first-year
Jack Giuliana, junior
Kevin Sonn, junior
Dylan Schreffler, and senior
Stephen Lyons combined for a time of 1:24.83.
During the 500-yard freestyle race, junior
Jonah Kasznay collected a personal best time of 4:45.79 and earned a third-place finish. Sophomore
David McCauley finished just behind Kasznay in fifth place with a time of 4:47.11, while senior
Jake Hennegan took 17th touching the wall at 4:55.68.

Francesco D'Avella paced the Bears' lineup in the 200-yard IM finishing 13th overall with a time of 1:59.83. Lyons shined in the 50-yard freestyle, tallying a time of 21.36 which earned the senior a third-place nod. Also in the race, junior
Jan Perez-Bonilla took 13th (22.09), Giuliana placed 14th (22.10), and Schreffler rounded out the lineup finishing 15th (22.11).
The Bears closed out the opening night of the meet with a fourth place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as the quartet of Kaznay, D'Avella, Giuliana, and Lyons combined for a time of 3:29.59.
The Bears will return to action tomorrow morning as session two of the tri-meet will begin at 10 a.m. with the final session starting at 5:30 p.m.
