Men's Tennis Bested by Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Ursinus Bears men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 contest to Haverford on Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference play.
 
 
 
With the loss, the Bears dropped to 12-6 overall and 2-5 in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Fords improved to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
 
 
 
Haverford won all three of the doubles points to take an early 3-0 lead in the match. Juniors Lars Jespersen and Will Oberholtzer dropped an 8-0 match at No. 1 doubles to Stefan Johnson and James McKenzie before Senior Noah Mandel and freshman Andrei Bogdan suffered an 8-1 setback to Kirin Eicher and Abhinav Nallapareddy at the No. 3 spot. Juniors Darby Rogers dropped an 8-2 No. 2 doubles match to Justin Minerva and Adam Chow.
 
 
 
In singles, Bogdan was defeated by Chow 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot while Mandel suffered a 6-1, 6-1 setback to Nallapareddy at the No. 6 spot which clinched the match for the Fords. Oberholtzer was bested by Kim 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Jespersen was downed by Wingert at the No. 1 position 6-2, 6-1. Yu dropped a 7-5, 6-1 match to McKenzie at the No. 3 spot and Rogers battled Minerva before losing a heartbreaking 6-1, 3-6, (2-10) match at No. 4 singles. 
 
 
 
The Bears return to action Saturday, April 22nd as they will host No. 10 Johns Hopkins at 2:00 p.m. for senior day.
