COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team wrapped up their 2022-23 season with a resounding 8-1 triumph over DeSales in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Bears concluded their season 13-7 for their most wins in a season since 2014. The 13 wins as a team is tied for the second most for a single-season in Ursinus men's tennis program history with the 2014 squad that also went 13-7. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs of the MAC Freedom finished their season with a 9-6 overall mark.
The Bears swept all three doubles matches against the Bulldogs to gain the early 3-0 advantage. Senior

Andrei Bogdan opened the scoring by winning 8-2 over Ethan McCombs and Alessio Flores at the No. 3 spot. Juniors

Will Oberholtzer followed by earning an 8-4 triumph over Philip Ritchie and Augie Citrone at No. 1 doubles while classmates
Ethan Yu and
Darby Rogers earned a thrilling 8-7 (8-6) win over Thomas Blomquist and Aiden Kiernan at the No. 2 position. The doubles win was the 15th of the season for Rogers and Yu, who are now tied for second all-time for single-season doubles wins.
In singles, Ursinus won five of the six matches to lock up the match. Bogdan capped an impressive freshman campaign by defeating McCombs 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot while Mandel took down Brent Holzman 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the win for the Bears in his final collegiate match at the No. 6 position. Rogers bested Blomquist 6-2, 6-1 for his 50th career collegiate win between singles and doubles action at the No. 4 spot and Jespersen outlasted Citrone 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Oberholtzer downed Ritchie 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Yu was edged by Kiernan 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 3 position.
