COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Each team won five bouts a piece, but the Ursinus College men's wrestling team fell on Thursday evening to Delaware Valley 23-17 from the Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse.

Joe Jamison said. "Overall, we wrestled well, but a few things just didn't go our way and we need to figure out how to overcome that. Delaware Valley always brings it and wrestles hard, and in the end, this will be good for us. This is just what we needed as we begin our conference slate. We have a quick turnaround as we head to face Merchant Marine on Monday and we're looking forward to it."
The Aggies jumped out to an early 4-0 match lead behind a major decision in the opening bout at 125lbs. Trailing 3-0 in the second period, senior
Jagger Clapsadle brought the crowd to their feet as he connected on a throw resulting in a pinfall over DVU's Ryan Mansueto at the 3:51-mark.
Delaware Valley responded with a 10-2 major decision at 141lbs to regain an 8-6 match lead heading into the 149lb bout. Ursinus regained the momentum through the following two matches as seniors
Dante Monaco recorded a 7-2 decision at 149lbs, and senior
Nick Lattanze collected a 6-4 decision at 157lbs.
With Ursinus leading 12-8, Delaware Valley tallied back-to-back first-period falls at 165lbs and 174lbs to regain a 20-12 match lead heading into the final three matches. At 174lbs, first-year
Sean Cowan brought the Bears within striking distance collecting a 7-2 decision over Delaware Valley's Nicholas Hall to bring the match score to 20-14. Classmate Max Borton followed up with a 4-1 decision at 197lbs to make the deficit three heading into the final match. In the final match, Delaware Valley's Logan Flynn earned a 11-4 decision to decide the match and give the Aggies a 23-17 match victory.
The Bears return to action on Monday, January 22
nd as they travel to Kings Point, New York for a Centennial Conference match against Merchant Marine at 7 p.m.
