LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team opened their 2024-25 season at the Centennial Conference Quad Meet featuring Franklin & Marshall, Dickinson College, and Washington College on Saturday afternoon.
 
 
The Bears fell to the Diplomats (156-101), Dickinson College (138-109), and Washington College (168-86) to open the season with a 0-3 record.
 
 
Ursinus opened the meet by earning a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of sophomore Morgan Valeriano, senior Katie Barlow, sophomore Melanie Hahn, and junior Sara Bozzomo combined for a time of 1:54.90. Barlow followed up with a fourth-place nod in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:20.42) and later added a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:28.27. Senior Emily Carkhuff added five-place finish in the 500 (5:41.08) and 1000-yard freestyle events as well.
 
 
In the 200-yard freestyle, Valeriano added a third-place finish with a time of 2:01.77, while Hahn took fourth touching the wall at 2:03.12. First-year Maria Wehmeyer placed ninth in the 100-yard backstroke in her collegiate debut, finishing with a time of 1:05.91. Later on in the 100 free, Hahn placed third behind a time of 56.15.
 

The Bears once again added two top-four finishes in the 200-yard Butterfly as sophomore Sylvi Lynch took third (2:26.54) and senior Molly Stevens placed fourth (2:26.98). Bozzomo added a pair of fifth-place finish in the 50 (25.87) and 100-yard freestyle (57.28) races.
 
 
Senior Alexandra Zelinske shined in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing second with a time of 1:03.04. The Bears closed out the meet with a second-place nod in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Bozzomo, Valeriano, Barlow, and Hahn combined for a time of 3:42.51.
 
 
The Bears return to action on Saturday, October 26th as they travel to York College for a dual meet at 1 p.m.
