YORK, Pa. – It came down to the final two races as the Ursinus College women's swimming team edged York College, 102-97, on Saturday afternoon on the road.
With the victory, Ursinus improved to 1-3 on the season, while the Spartans fall to 1-1 overall. The Bears opened the meet by placing second in the 400-yard medley relay as the quartet of senior

Sylvi Lynch shined for the Bears during the meet earning event victories in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:12.34) and 100 butterfly (1:03.99), while placing third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.97). During the 1000 free, senior
Katie Barlow added a second-place nod with a time of 11:57.33.
Next, Hahn (2:00.54) and Stevens (2:09.62) recorded second and fourth place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle to tally six points for the Bears. Stevens later placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.05, while Zelinske placed second touching the wall at 1:02.39. In the 50-yard freestyle, junior
Sara Bozzomo collected the fastest time behind a final tally of 24.98, which ranked almost a second faster than her time last week at the Centennial Quad Meet of 25.87. She also added the top-time in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 55.26, while first-year
Maria Wehmeyer placed fourth (1:00.36).
Ursinus added the top-two times in the 400-yard IM as Valeriano (4:49.40) and senior Emilly Carkhuff (5:11.10) combined for 13 team points for the Bears. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Ursinus clinched the meet as sophomore
Mia Tamburrino (1:15.73) and Lynch (1:19.97) added second and third place finishes, respectively. The Bears closed out the meet by placing second in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Barlow, Hahn, Bozzomo, and Valeriano combined for a time of 4:14.34.
The Bears will return to action on Friday, November 1st as they host Bryn Mawr College for a Centennial Conference matchup at 6 p.m. from Elliott Pool.
