COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's tennis team bounced back with a 7-0 clean sweep of Neumann on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
The Bears level their record to 1-1 while the Knights open the season 0-1 in the fall portion of the schedule. The win was also the first for new head coach
Frederika Tavani.
Ursinus easily got the doubles point behind sweeping all three matches. Sophomore
Deniz Finkel and
Andrei Bogdan got things started with a 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot over Joe Troilo and Anthony Carpinella before sophomore
Teddy Snyder and first-year
Nathan Kim bested Dan Bonowski and Jason Petrin 6-1 at the No. 1 position. Senior
Hunter Murray and first-year
Charles DiCicco capped the doubles play with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Ryan Muckle and Dylan Stiteler.
In singles play, Bogdan defeated James Leuzzi 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot and Snyder swept Troilo 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 position. Kim locked up the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bonowski at the No. 2 position while Finkel took down Petrin 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. First-year
Russell Nour picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Carpinella at the No. 5 spot and DiCicco closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Barisa at the No. 6 position.
The Bears return to action on Thursday, October 10th as they will close out the fall portion of their schedule at Immaculata for a 4:00 p.m. match.
