WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team won 11 events in their tri-meet against McDaniel and Juniata on Saturday afternoon and earned wins over both teams. The Bears won 77-54 over the host Green Terror and 83-36 over the Eagles.
Eight different Bears swimmers earned 10 individual wins in the meet. Sophomore
Jack Giuliana and senior
Jan Perez-Bonilla led Ursinus with two wins apiece while junior
Francesco D'Avella, sophomore
Adam Denn, senior
Jonah Kasznay, senior
Jake Klucinec, senior
Dylan Schreffler, and senior
Kevin Sonn all earned individual wins.
Klucinec led off the individual events with a win in the 1000 yard freestyle after touching the wall at 11:03.60 and Sonn won the 200 free on his time of 1:52.07. Kasznay led a 1-2 finish with Schreffler in the 100 backstroke behind a time of 56.82 that just topped the 57.56 time of Schreffler. Giuliana and Denn went 1-2 in the 100 breast with Giuliana taking the win on his time of 1:07.17. Perez Bonilla controlled the 200 butterfly on his time of 2:05.63 before taking the 100 butterfly later in the meet with his time of 55.07. D'Avella earned his win in the 50 freestyle after touching the wall at 23.37 and Giuliana notched his second win of the meet in the 100 free with his mark of 50.00. Denn won a decisive 200 breaststroke race on a time of 2:30.72 and Schreffler took home the 500 free with a time of 5:10.69, leading a 1-2 finish with D'Avella.
The 200 yard medley relay team of D'Avella, Kasznay, Schreffler, and Giuliana posted a win in the event with a time of 1:40.99 to start the day.
The Bears have nearly a month off before returning to action on Friday, December 6th as they will open a home-and-home meet series with Swarthmore at home starting at 6:00 p.m.
