Men's Swimming Falls at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa.
– The Ursinus College men's swimming team closed out their regular season with a 194-67 defeat to Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon from Bullets Pool.
 

With the defeat, Ursinus closes out the regular season with a 7-4 overall record and a 3-4 mark in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Bullets improved to 6-4 on the season and 5-1 in conference meets.

 
Junior Jonah Kasznay highlighted the Bears' day with three top finishes while sophomore David McCauley and senior Stephen Lyons each earned second-place nods in their respective events. Kasznay opened with a third-place finish the 100-yard backstroke (54.18), before adding a first-place time in the 500 free (4:46.75), and a third-place finish in the 100-yard IM (54.05).

 
McCauley took second place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:58.71, while touching the wall at 1:57.24 in the 200 free and placing sixth. Lyons also added a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (21.73) and later tallied a time of 48.60 in the 100 free, placing fifth. Junior Dylan Schreffler also placed in the 50 (22.29) and 100-yard freestyle events (48.40) earning the fourth fastest time, respectively.

 
Sophomore Francesco D'Avella shined in the three events he participated during the meet. D'Avella tallied a third-place finish in the 100 breast (59.38), before finishing fourth in the 100-yard IM (54.51), and fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.23).

 
Ursinus closed out the meet with the top-time in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Lyons, Schreffler, Kasznay, and McCauley combined for a time of 3:13.42.
 

The Bears will rest up and prepare for the Centennial Conference Championships starting on February 22nd at Gettysburg College.
