WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team earned an impressive 6-1 win over Division II West Chester on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the win the Bears improved to 11-6 overall on the season while the Golden Rams fell to 1-13.
The Bears earned the doubles point under the Division II scoring format behind winning two of the three matches. The first-year No. 3 doubles duo of
Noah Dichter and
Deniz Finkel dropped a 6-0 decision to Brady Burns and Andrew Poprik before seniors
Lars Jespersen and
Will Oberholtzer defeated Sam Robertson and Cesar DeJesus Morale 6-3 at No 1 doubles. Seniors
Ethan Yu and
Darby Rogers delivered the point for the Bears by besting Lucas Henke and Andres Urrutia 6-4 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
First-year
Teddy Snyder led things off in singles with a No. 5 singles win over DeJesus Morale by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Finkel followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Poprik at the No. 6 spot and Jespersen downed Henke 6-2, 7-6 at the No. 1 spot to clinch the match for the Bears. Yu rallied to defeat Urrutia 0-6, 6-3, 1-0 at the No. 2 spot and Oberholtzer fell 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 to Aidan Cashin at the No. 4 position. Rogers closed out the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 over Burns at No. 3 singles.
Ursinus will close out its season on Saturday, April 27th as they will travel to face No. 14 Johns Hopkins at Goucher College starting at 1:00 p.m.
