COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team earned four event victories as they fell against Division II opponent, Kutztown University, 158-100 on Friday evening from the Keystone Natatorium.


Sophomore Morgan Valeriano earned three event victories in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and 200 IM to lead the Bears lineup. The dual opened with the 200-yard medley relay as the Bears finished second behind the quartet of Valeriano, sophomore Melanie Hahn, senior Molly Stevens, and junior Sara Bozzomo combined for a time of 1:56.34.
 

Next, in the 1000-yard freestyle, seniors Katie Barlow (11:20.67) and Emily Carkhuff (11:44.61) tallied second and third place finishes, respectively. Shortly after, Carkhuff (2:09.84) added a fourth-place nod in the 200-yard freestyle, while Hahn collected a second-place finish behind a time of 2:03.91. Hahn later added another second-place nod in the 100-yard freestyle by touching the wall at 56.72.
 

Valeriano added her first victory of the meet during the 100-yard backstroke as she touched the wall at 1:01.74, while sophomore Sylvi Lynch placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:21.12).  During the 200-yard backstroke, senior Alexandra Zelinske (2:18.47) earned second while first-year Hailey Lenker (2:27.20) added a fifth-place finish. Valeriano tallied her second top-finish in the 200 breaststroke as she earned nine points for the Bears with a time of 2:32.67.
 

In the 100-yard fly, Stevens (2^nd, 1:02.92) and Lynch (3^rd, 1:04.42) added top-three finishes, while sophomore Mia Tamburrino placed fourth with a time of 1:06.18. Valeriano closed out the meet for the Bears with the quickest time in the 200-yard IM by touching the wall at 2:14.68.
 

The Bears will return to action tomorrow as they host Misericordia University for a non-conference matchup starting at 1 p.m.
