DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – A string of bonus-point victories lifted the Ursinus College women's wrestling team to a 27-19 victory over Delaware Valley University on Thursday evening from James Work Gymnasium.
With the victory, Ursinus improves to 8-5 overall on the season and have won three of their last four dual meets. The Bears won six of the 10 bouts including five victories by bonus points enroute to the victory.

Joe Jamison said. "We are dealing with some injuries and illnesses, so everyone had to do what was necessary to find a way to win the dual. We wrestled with courage and they should be really proud. It was a defining moment for a young program."
Sophomore
Mandy Gavares put Ursinus ahead early as she earned a 14-11 comeback victory over Delaware Valley's Jesenia Camargo (Ranked Second in Region II) to give the Bears a 3-1 lead. Camargo jumped out to an early 4-0 lead at the 1:24-mark, before Gavares responded with a four-point throw to tie the match at four apiece. Next, Gavares closed out the period with a blast double leg to gain a 6-4 advantage heading into the final stanza. Camargo tied the match twice in the final period, before Gavares connected on a headlock for a four-point throw enorute to the 14-11 victory.
First-year
Olivia Guy made her season debut at 110lbs and recorded a fall over Mckenna Acampora at the 3:59-mark to extend the Bears lead to 8-1. Guy jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first period, before running a half and a wrist to the pin in the second stanza. Kalli Roskos to give the Bears a 12-6 lead. Against Delaware Valley's Isabella LaPerry, Roskos snapped down LaPerry before locking up a leg-lace to gain a 6-0 lead. Roskos closed out the match with a pair of takedowns enroute to the 10-0 technical superiority victory.
Sophomore
Stacy Bloomfield carried the momentum in the 131lb bout as she recorded a 10-0 victory by technical superiority over Delaware Valley's Alex Graffius to extend the Bears advantage to 16-6. Bloomfield collected a quick single leg takedown before locking up the leg-lace to increase her lead to 6-0 at the 2:13-mark. Next, Bloomfield defended a shot from Graffius while locking up the match with her final takedown for the 10-0 victory.
Delaware Valley bounced back with a 6-4 decision at 138lbs and a fall at 145lbs to cut their deficit to 17-14 with three matches remaining. For the Aggies, Olivia Ball (138lbs) tallied the decision over first-year

Madyson Hickman at 145lbs. Ursinus bounced back at 160lbs as sophomore
Paisley Fox recorded a 32-second fall over Delaware Valley's Kathryn Martin to extend the Bears lead to 22-14. Fox defended off an early shot before running an armbar for the pinfall. Next, sophomore
Emma Matera defeated DVU's Emma Helverson by fall at the 2:17-mark to clinch the dual and give Ursinus a 27-14 lead. Matera recorded an early takedown before throwing Helverson to the mat for the fall. Delaware Valley collected a forfeit at 207lbs, but Ursinus earned the 27-19 match victory.
The Bears return to action on Sunday, February 2nd as they travel to Loc Haven, Pennsylvania for a tri-meet against No. 15 Lock Haven University and No. 19 Gannon University.
