TOWSON, Md. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team used a strong stretch in singles action to defeat Goucher 4-3 in its fall dual match opener on Wednesday afternoon.
The Gophers won two of the three doubles matches to take the first point of the match. Junior
Teddy Snyder and first-year
James Fassbender won the No. 3 doubles match 6-1 over Daniel Gigatti and Ian Hewes before junior
Noah Dichter and sophomore
Russell Nour dropped a 6-4 No. 1 match to Gabe Naftoly and Benedikt Rummel. Senior
Andrei Bogdan and junior
Deniz Finkel suffered a 6-3 setback at the No. 2 doubles spot to Guilherme Moraes and Carlo Cermeno Cortes.
In singles play, Nour opened things up with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 6 spot over Lucerna and sophomore
Charles DiCicco downed Cortes 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Snyder bested Rummel 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot and Bogdan clinched the match at the No. 4 spot after Hewes retired in the second set. Finkel was defeated 3-6, 2-6 by Naftoly at the No. 1 singles spot while Dichter lost 5-7, 3-6 at the No. 3 spot to Moraes.
