COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus junior
Braden Kmak has been named the Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.
Kmak won the 157-pound title behind four victories by fall, including three first-period falls, at the Misericordia Cougar Classic on Saturday. He opened by pinning York's Jack Doran at the 2:40-mark, before reaching the semifinals with a second-period pin over Misericordia's Brady Colville. Next, he earned a 37-second fall in the semifinals, before pinning Eastern's Braydon Castillo in the finals at the 1:39-mark to secure the title.
The Hazlet, New Jersey native has posted a 12-4 record this season and is currently ranked fifth in Region III by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). He becomes the second Bear this season to earn the weekly accolade from the conference as classmate
Andrew Schaen was awarded the honor on November 4th. Last season, Kmak posted a 21-15 record, ranked second on the team with 16 victories by fall, and placed second at the Centennial Conference Championship.
The Bears return to action on Friday, December 5th as they travel to York College for the New Standard Invitational.
