COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus women's swimming team cruised to a tri-meet sweep over McDaniel College (147-53) and Juniata College (131-73) on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, Ursinus has won their fourth straight meet and improves to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The Bears opened the meet by placing first in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of sophomore
Maria Wehmeyer, first-year
Caelan Ladd, junior
Morgan Valeriano, and senior
Sara Bozzomo combined for a time of 1:55.23.
Next, Ursinus swept the top-two times in the 400-yard IM as junior
Melanie Hahn (4:54.05) and first-year
Kendell Goelz (4:56.75) placed first and second, respectively. In the 200-yard freestyle, first-year
Isabella Warren paced the field with a time of 2:06.40, while Wehmeyer took third by touching the wall at 2:09.29. The Bears carried the momentum into the 50-yard freestyle as Bozzomo (25.53) placed first and junior
Sylvi Lynch took fourth with a time of 26.67.
Ursinus earned their fifth straight victory with the top-time in the 100-yard IM as Valeriano touched the wall at 1:01.06, six seconds faster than Juniata's Dani Cline. Junior
Mia Tamburrino placed third in the event with a time of 1:08.70. The Bears tallied three of the top four times in the 200-yard butterfly as Ladd (2:13.17) placed first, Lynch (2:22.72) took second, and first-year
Addison Dunlop (2:35.26) ranked fourth.
Ursinus followed up with the top-three times in the 100-yard freestyle as Hahn (55.58), Goelz (57.75), and first-year
Lindsay Willis (57.79) extended the Bears' lead. Ursinus closed out the meet by earning the top-time in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Warren, Wehmeyer, Willis, and Hahn combined for a time of 3:50.17.
The Bears will return to action on Saturday, November 15th as they host Division II Kutztown University for a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
