COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team closed out their dual meet schedule by falling to Gettysburg College, 145-59, on Saturday afternoon from William Elliott Pool.
The Bears honored five seniors prior to the contest as
Jonah Kasznay,
Jake Klucinec,
Jan Perez-Bonilla,
Dylan Schreffler, and
Kevin Sonn were honored for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the Ursinus swimming team over the last four years.
Ursinus opened with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of first-year
Josh Travers, junior
Francesco D'Avella, sophomore
Jack Giuliana, and Sonn combined for a time of 1:37.14. Next, Kasznay earned the second fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.44), while Klucinec took fourth with a time of 1:48.40. Later in the meet, Kasznay collected his second event victory by winning the 500-yard freestyle by touching the wall at 4:43.99. Junior
David McCauley took fourth in the 500 free by finishing with a time of 5:03.47.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Sonn added a first-place finish by touching the wall at 21.76 and Travers took fourth place behind a time of 22.73. Meanwhile in the 100-yard freestyle, Giuliana (48.70) notched a third-place finish while Schreffler took fourth behind a time of 48.74. In the final individual event, D'Avella placed second in the 100-yard breastroke (1:00.69), while first-year
Evan Wagner ranked fifth (1:03.86) for the Bears. Ursinus ended the meet by placing second in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Schreffler, Sonn, Perez-Bonilla, and Giuliana totaled a time of 1:27.69.
The Bears close out their regular season schedule and will start tuning up for the Centennial Conference Championships starting on February 20th hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.
