Women's Wrestling Sweeps Quad Meet

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's wrestling team earned a trio of victories en route to a perfect 3-0 record while hosting the Ursinus Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon from Helfferich Hall.
 

Ursinus recorded a 35-5 victory over Muhlenberg College, before collecting a 34-5 decision against McDaniel College, and a 29-15 win versus Alvernia University. The Bears celebrated Senior Day honoring Lauren Gherman prior to the contest for her hard work, dedication, and commitment to the Ursinus Women's Wrestling team over the last three seasons. With the victories, Ursinus secures a program record for wins in a season finishing their dual meet schedule with a 13-5 mark. 
 

"Incredible performance by our women today," Director of Wrestling Joe Jamison said. "We continue to have our backs against the wall, but compete for each other every step of the way. I am excited to see what we can do in two weeks at regionals.
 

Ursinus 35, Muhlenberg 5
 After double forfeits at 103lbs and 110lbs, Ursinus earned an early 5-0 advantage as first-year Olivia Guy collected the forfeit at 117lbs. Junior Kalli Roskos followed suit winning by defeating Muhlenberg's Alessandra Rodriguez by fall at the 2:14-mark to increase the Bears match lead to 10-0. After a Muhlenberg forfeit at 131lbs, first-year Emma Sagi recorded a pin at 138bs to extend the Bears lead to 20-0. Sagi recorded a four-point takedown to open the period, before advancing her positioning for the pin over Penelope Schneider at the 1:06-mark of the first period.
 

At 145lbs, Ursinus stretched their lead to 25-0 as sophomore Paisley Fox tallied a pin over Muhlenberg's Ella Pomeranz at the 1:24-mark. Fox defended off a shot attempt, secured the takedown, and ran an armbar for the pin. Next, sophomore Emma Matera followed up with the Bears' fourth fall, recording /documents/2025/2/8/WWRES_-_Ursinus_vs_Alvernia.pdfthe pin over Muhlenberg's Kelsey Gelb. Sophomore Gianna Perez closed out the Bears' run by collecting a forfeit, while the Mules earned a forfeit at 207lbs resulting in the 35-5 final score.

 
Ursinus 34, McDaniel 5
The Green Terror jumped out to a 5-0 advantage as they earned a forfeit at 103lbs, but the Bears evened the score at 110lbs as Guy recorded a 21-second fall over Iiana Robinson. Guy quickly earned a takedown with a single leg, before using a half to tie the score at five apiece. After a double forfeit at 117lbs, Roskos (124lbs), Bloomfield (131lbs, and Sagi (138lbs) received forfeits to give Ursinus a 20-5 advantage.
 

At 145lbs, Fox increased the Bears lead to 25-5 as she recorded a fall at the 1:15-mark over McDaniel's Maria Samuel. Ursinus closed out the match with a 10-0 technical superiority from Matera and a pin from Perez to earn the 34-5 victory.
 

Ursinus 29, Alvernia 15
The dual got started at 110lbs with Guy earning her second pin of the day behind a 20-second fall over Alvernia's Grace Molloy. Guy used a blast double for an early takedown for advancing her position to a half for the first period fall. Alvernia tied the match at five apiece behind a forfeit at 117lbs, but a 10-0 technical superiority from Roskos at 124lbs increased the Bears lead to 9-5.
 

At 131lbs, Bloomfield recorded a forfeit to stretch the Bears lead to 14-5, while three straight pins from Ursinus gave them a 29-5 advantage with two matches remaining. Sagi tallied a fall at the 1:05-mark over Abbigail Kohl at 138lbs, while a 37-second pin from Fox at 145lbs extended the Ursinus lead to 24-5. Meanwhile at 160lbs, Matera grabbed a 2-0 lead before using a leg trip for the Bears' third straight pin extending their lead to 29-5. Alvernia recorded a fall at 180lbs and a victory by forfeit at 207lbs, but the Bears finished with a perfect record behind a 29-15 victory.
 

The Bears return to action on Sunday, February 23rd as they compete at the NCWWC Region 2 Championships for a chance to qualify for the National Championships.
