COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team once again dug deep and outlasted Dickinson for a 4-3 win in Centennial Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Bears improved to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Red Devils fell to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Ursinus pulled out two doubles match wins to gain the first point of the match. Junior
Andrei Bogdan and sophomore
Deniz Finkel defeated Florian Anderson and Ryan Whiting 6-1 at the No. 2 spot before senior
Hunter Murray and first-year
Charles DiCicco dropped a 6-3 No. 3 doubles match to Drew Allen and Aidan MacIntosh. Sophomore
Noah Dichter and first-year
Russell Nour earned a hard-fought 7-5 No. 1 doubles match win over Eddy Chow and Lucas Bogle to lock up the point.
Nour extended the Bears lead with a 6-3, 6-1 No. 4 singles win over Anderson and Dichter bested Chow 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot to leave Ursinus needing just one more win to take the match. However, the Red Devils battled back as Bogdan lost 6-7 (5-7), 2-6 to Allen at the No. 2 spot and sophomore
Teddy Snyder fell 4-6, 2-6 to Bogle at No. 1 singles. Murray suffered a 3-6, 3-6 setback to Whiting at the No. 6 spot to set up a winner-take-all No. 5 singles match. DiCicco came through for the Bears with a wild 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over MacIntosh to preserve the match.
The Bears are right back to work tomorrow, April 16th as they will host McDaniel at 4:00 p.m. for their Faculty and Staff Appreciation match.
