COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team hosted Albright in their first home match of the spring season on Friday afternoon at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
The Bears won the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. Sophomore
Katie Yu and sophomore
Mariah Mays dropped a 6-0 match to Michelle Timothy and Elicia Aponte at No. 1 doubles before Senior
Kate Rubinkam and junior
Morgan Coupe bested Nadia Margaritov and Kaelyn Davis 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Senior
Bella Vassalluzzo and junior
Caroline Daly preserved the point by defeating Allison Horick and Alaina Smith 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, the Lions took control as Daly dropped an 0-6, 0-6 No. 1 singles match to Margaritov and Yu lost 0-6, 3-6 to Timothy at No. 2 singles. Mays was bested 4-6, 4-6 by Aponte at No. 3 singles before Rubinkam ended the run with a No. 4 singles win. Vassalluzzo suffered a tough 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 loss to Diaz at No. 6 singles and Coupe dropped a 5-7, 6-4, 5-7 No. 5 singles match to Smith that made it 5-2 Albright.
Ursinus returns to action tomorrow, March 14th as they will travel to face Lebanon Valley at 4:00 p.m.
