COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team opened their fall season with a 5-2 win over Arcadia on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
The win was the first for brand new head coach Tim Koch as he begins his first campaign with the Bears men's and women's teams.
The Bears won all three doubles points to take the first point of the match. Senior
Teddy Snyder and sophomore
James Fassbender bested Aaron Allen and Kevin McHale 6-1 at the No. 2 doubles spot and senior
Deniz Finkel and junior
Russell Nour took down Bernardo and Luis Figueiredo 6-3 at the No. 1 doubles spot. Junior
Devin Carter and sophomore
Pierce Rohlfing outlasted Jet Taylor and Kajuan Haughton 7-6 (7-3) at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, Finkel took down Allen 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot and Nour bested McHale 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 position. Junior
Charles DiCicco locked up the match by beating Luis Figueiredo 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles and Snyder was downed 2-6, 4-6 by Bernardo Figueiredo at the No. 1 singles spot. Sophomore
Bogdan Maksimovic won 6-1, 6-3 over Stas Bazarov at No. 5 singles and Carter lost 4-6, 4-6 to Taylor at the No. 6 spot.
Ursinus returns to action on Tuesday, September 29
th as they will host Moravian at 3:30 p.m.
