Dr. Marcus Wagner ‘17 begins his third year as an assistant coach for Ursinus. Marcus comes from Dallas, PA where he specialized in distance freestyle events during his high school swimming career. Marcus was district champion and an all-state swimmer in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle for three straight years. He was also a part of the 200- and 400-yard freestyle district champion relay teams his junior and senior year. Marcus tabbed 4 school records and 3 pool records throughout his high school swimming career.

Marcus joined the Ursinus swimming family in 2017 while he earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in Biology. While at Ursinus, Marcus grabbed 4 school records and still currently holds top 10 times in four events at Ursinus. He was also co-captain of the team his senior year.

After graduating Ursinus, Marcus went on and pursued a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine. Currently, Marcus works as a post-doctoral fellow in Dr. Sharlene Day’s cardiac research laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. Marcus remains very active in the Ursinus community. He currently serves as an instructor for several labs in the biology department and is an active member of the alumni council.
