Bill Dailey enters his first season as the goalkeeper coach for the Ursinus College women’s soccer program in the fall of 2026.
Dailey brings more than three decades of coaching and teaching experience to the Bears’ staff. His coaching background includes goalkeeper development, high school and club soccer, individual training, coaching education, and leadership positions within Major League Soccer-affiliated youth programs.
Since 2019, Dailey has served as the varsity head coach at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. Under his leadership, the Monarchs have compiled a 72-43-10 record, qualified for the PIAA District 1 Class AAA Tournament six times, and captured the 2025 AACA League championship—the program’s second in school history. Gwynedd Mercy reached the District 1 championship game in 2020, the semifinals in 2022, and the quarterfinals in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025.
Before joining Gwynedd Mercy, Dailey served as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School. During his tenure, the program won five consecutive PIAA District 12 championships from 2012 through 2016 and advanced to the 2012 PIAA Class A state championship game. He previously served as the girls’ varsity head coach and goalkeeper coach at Harry S. Truman High School, where his teams established several program records and produced a record overall season record and a 100-goal improvement in goal differential
At the club level, Dailey currently serves as a club goalkeeper trainer and head coach with Steel United PA and U17 Steel National Team Assistant. His additional experience includes coaching and leadership positions with Philadelphia Union Soccer Schools, Philadelphia Union Youth, the New York Red Bulls Youth Academy, PA Rush, and several local youth clubs. During six years with Philadelphia Union Soccer Schools, he worked as a lead coach, Girls Director, Director of Coaching, and site manager and was recognized with the program’s Top Director Award.
Dailey holds the United States Soccer Federation National D License, United Soccer Coaches National Diploma, United Soccer Coaches National Goalkeeping Diplomas, United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma, German Football Association Goalkeeper Basis Diploma, and a German FA state coaching qualification. He has also completed player-development coursework through the academy of Bundesliga club 1. FC Union Berlin, along with numerous coaching and special-topic programs offered by the German FA, England FA, United Soccer Coaches, and other professional organizations.
A lifelong educator, Dailey recently retired after a 33-year career as a high school teacher, instructional coach, and professional-development trainer. He taught German, history, social studies, and television and video production while helping educators incorporate instructional technology into their classrooms. Dailey earned a bachelor’s degree in German from Penn State University, along with K-12 teaching certification and the equivalent of a minor in psychology. He later earned a master’s degree in instructional technology from Saint Joseph’s University.
Dailey began playing soccer with Middletown Athletic Association before moving to the United German-Hungarians. He continued playing throughout middle school and high school while attending identification and residential camps conducted by NASL and MISL professional players and coaches.
Dailey resides in Southampton, PA with his wife, Melanie, of 27 years. They have two adult sons, a Temple University graduate in Exercise and Sports Science, and the other attending Duquesne University as a pre-law Political Science Major.
His extensive teaching background, specialized goalkeeper training, and player-centered coaching philosophy allow him to support student-athletes in their technical, tactical, physical, and personal development.
