Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus freshman midfielder Ryan Molyneaux's (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) goal six minutes into the first overtime sent Ursinus (5-4-1, 2-0-1 Centennial) to a 2-1 win over Franklin & Marshall (7-2-1, 1-2 Centennial) on Wednesday night in men's soccer action.

The win marked the first victory over the Diplomats since 1996 and also snapped a nine-match losing streak. With the win, combined with Gettysburg's 2-1 loss to Johns Hopkins, Ursinus remains in a first-place tie with Swarthmore.

Molyneaux scored on a shot from the left side, off of an assist from freshman defender Jared Kimelheim (Langhorne, Pa./The George School), as the shot went to the far corner of the goal at 94:27. The Bears tied the score late at 82:28 on a penalty kick from sophomore forward Ryan Butler (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra).

F&M took the lead at 38:27 as Vince Perry scored off a Diplomat corner.

Ursinus junior goalkeeper Ryan Murphy (Sewell, N.J./Paul VI) made five saves for the Bears, who have allowed just two goals in their last five matches. Ursinus is also 4-0-1 in its last five matches.

Ursinus heads to Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
