Men's Soccer drops 2-1 decision to Haverford

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Haverford freshman forward Matthew Clausen scored two goals in the first half, including one on a penalty kick, as the Fords (10-4-1, 4-2-1 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (7-7-1, 3-3-1 Centennial) 2-1 on Wednesday night in men's soccer play.

Clausen scored in the 8th and 24th minute for the Fords, with his second goal coming on a penalty kick.

Ursinus got on the board in the 64th minute when sophomore midfielder Dean DerSimonian scored his third goal of the season on a cross from freshman forward Ryan Molyneaux.

The game was a defensive battle, with Haverford netting a 13-6 advantage on shots and a 6-2 edge on corners.

In goal, junior Ryan Murphy had two saves.

Ursinus is currently tied for the fifth and final playoff spot with two matches left. The Bears will host Muhlenberg on Saturday, then travel to Gettysburg next Saturday.
