Rahill sets receiving mark as Football beats Susquehanna, 30-10

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Ursinus College senior wide receiver Jerry Rahill set a school record with 12 catches in a game as the Bears (6-1, 5-1 Centennial) rebounded with a 30-10 win over Susquehanna (1-6, 1-5 Centennial) Saturday night. 

Rahill beat the previous mark held by four players, as Ursinus posted a winning season for the fifth straight time, a first in school history.

Junior quarterback Kevin Monahan threw for 211 yards on 16-for-31 passing with two scores, one to Rahill and one to freshman running back Corey Kelly

Kelly rushed for 142 yards and a score in the win. Rahill finished the game with 148 yards receiving.

John Carty led the Bears with ten tackles as Ursinus beat Susquehanna for the fourth straight year. Sophomore kicker Eric Boyer was 3-for-3 on field goals.

Ursinus got on the board first as Monahan found Kelly down the middle for a 38-yard touchdown pass with 7:44 left in the first quarter that ended a short two-play, 56-yard drive for a 7-0 lead. 

The Bears went up 14-0 with 4:33 left on their next offensive drive, with Monahan finding Rahill from 36 yards out for the score.

Susquehanna got on the board with 5:29 left in the second quarter when Spencer Hotaling kicked a 33-yard field goal for a 14-3 Ursinus lead. The Bears answered back with a field goal of their own, when Boyer kicked a 33-yard field goal of his own with two seconds left in the half. 

In the third quarter, Ursinus went up 24-3 when Kelly rushed off tackle for a  40-yard score.

Susquehanna scored with 1:23 left when Casey Tosches caught a 14-yard scoring pass from Mark Rosenbaum that ended a long 14-play, 79-yard drive, putting Susquehanna within two scores at 24-10. 

Boyer added another field goal, this one from 28-yards out with 10:23 left in the fourth for a 27-10. He tacked on another with 1:42 left, from 22-yards out.  

Ursinus will head to Baltimore next week to take on Johns Hopkins. The Blue Jays are nationally ranked and have won two previous meetings over Ursinus.
