Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa –  Ursinus (6-8) came in looking to stay perfect at home and upset Centennial Conference leader Johns Hopkins. But Katie Clark, Alyssa Flemming and Maggie Fruehan all scored double figures to break Ursinus perfect record at home winning, 71-67, on Saturday afternoon in women's basketball play.

Clark finished with 15, while Fruehan added in 12.

Senior guard Diamond Lewis led the Bears (6-8, 4-5 Centennial)  with 18 points going 3-5 from the arc and adding one assist.

Sophomore forward Jessica Porada added 14 points and eight rebounds, while freshman guard Gianna Pownall had a career day with 14 points, six steals and three rebounds.

In a physical defensive struggle Johns Hopkins took a 9-7 lead in the first ten minutes of the contest. After a few key turnovers, the Blue Jays (11-3, 9-0 Centennial) went on an 8-2 run to push them to a 17-9 lead.

Momentum shifted when Pownall forced a turnover scooped up by Lewis and driven down the court with an easy layup. Lewis's performance helped the Bears outscore the Blue Jays 20-12 in the closing minutes to tie up the game 29-29 going into halftime.

Lewis came out hot scoring a quick six points in the second half to set the tone but the Blue Jays battled back pulling away in the final minutes of the game to stay perfect in Centennial Conference play.

The Bears will be back in action Wednesday January 22, at 8 p.m. versus Muhlenberg.
